Location:

The courts are on the Grundisburgh playing field, behind the Leylandii hedge.

 

Access/Parking:

Access from the Ipswich Road is via the track alongside the Garage.

 

Cars can be parked behind the sports pavilion

 

Pedestrians can also gain access to the courts via the footpaths from

 

Post Mill Orchard, Park Road and Meeting Lane.

 

Who we are:

Grundisburgh Tennis Club is managed by a volunteer committee, elected at the Annual General Meeting.

Courts:

Grundisburgh Tennis Club has three hard courts, which can be used throughout the year by members and non-members.

 

Membership gives free use of the courts, except during matches or coaching, which always takes priority.

 

Keys are available to members for a refundable deposit of £7

 

The fees for the 2011/12 season are detailed on the membership application form. Types of membership are defined below: 

 

Types of membership:

Individual senior membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is not a student in full-time education.

 

 

Individual junior membership is open to anyone under 18 years and includes students over 18 in full-time education.

 

 

Couple membership is open to any couple over the age of 18.

 

 

Family membership is any family which includes two adults and two children. Each subsequent child is charged at half the junior rate

 

 

Summer membership is available for the period of the summer school holidays.

 

 

 

Social membership allows people to participate in and be kept informed of club activities.

 Sessions

 

Club Sessions:

The following club sessions are held to enable members to mix and play with people across a range of standards.

 

Open:

Wednesdays from 6:30pm till dark.

 

Advanced Adults:

Sundays; 9 till 10:30.

 

Open Adults:

Sundays open 10:30 till 12:3

 

Juniors:

Thursdays 6pm till 7 (please note, these sessions are not supervised and the Club expect the parents to provide a suitable level of supervision.

 

 

 

Members can bring guests for £2 per person for up two visits each after which time the club would expect them to join.

 

Coaching:

Generally there are two coaching sessions, a year, organised by the club. These consist of 1 hour each for beginners, intermediates and adults. These courses are generally organised in the spring and autumn. This is co-ordinated by Geoff Caryer (01473 738108).

Teams

Grundisburgh tennis club has teams in both the local summer and winter tennis leagues.

Use of courts by non-members

The courts can be hired by non-members for £10 an hour when not in use club use. A key deposit will be required. Bookings are made at the Old Forge Stores, Grundisburgh, but cannot be reserved in advance.

There are two ladders: men's and women's and all Grundisburgh Tennis Club members may join, free of charge.

 

Players can join a ladder by simply filling in and submitting the form at https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?hl=en_GB&formkey=dEJaWkFIMlJWRFlwMzVMdUxfZmIwa3c6MQ#gid=0

 

Players should make themselves accessible to others to arrange matches by allowing them to be contacted by phone / email.

Players will join at the bottom of the ladder and can progress by playing people up to two places above them.

 

Matches are played to three sets and if the winner is the lower ranked player, s/he takes the place of the higher ranked player in the table.
